Papers from my BA in History
In parallel to my BScs in Physics and Electrical Engineering, I did a BA in History at Tel Aviv University. My “emphasis” was on the Middle Ages, but the degree required a broad background in all eras of Western culture.
The term “General History” is actually just Western History, although I took courses on Eastern topics as well.
Below are some of the titles of papers I submitted during this degree. I can send you a copy of them, if you contact me, but I will not be posting them online, since I do not want them to be plagiarized.
“Homagium et Fidelitus“: based on the book Feudalism, by FL Ganshof. A summary of Medieval Feudalism.
“Knights & Warfare“: describing the advances of Medieval cavalry.
“Alchemy in the Middle Ages: The Summa Perfectionis of Pseudo Jeber“: On the transfer of alchemy from the Arab to European world in the High Middle Ages.
“China and the West“: A comparative approach to finding the reasons for the schism in civilization advances occurring in the Orient and Occident.
“Jorge Luis Borges: 2 Short Stories“: A historical approach to two stories by Borges: “Pedro Salvadores” and “Emma Zunz”. Part of a course on Latin American history.
“1848 Revolution“: Summarizing the Revolution in France in 1848, and comparing it with Russia.
“On Darkness at Noon“: A look at the novel Darkness at Noon, by A. Koestler, through the transcript of the actual transcript of Bukharin’s trial.
“Under an Established God“: On the Constitutionality of the phrase, “under God” in the American Pledge of Allegiance.
The Alchemy and China papers were my longest and best.
